Manufacturing Engineer
Summary: Supports manufacturing by developing and optimizing production processes and assembly methods, material flow, equipment layout and workforce utilization to ensure maximum efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Researches, develops, and implements new manufacturing processes and/or equipment.
- Improves manufacturing controls and efficiency by analyzing work flow, establishing procedures, and implementing process improvements.
- Coordinates, develops and executes validation protocols for machinery and processes.
- Troubleshoots and resolves manufacturing process issues.
- Provides support to Product Development Engineers to help ensure designs are manufacturable in a cost effective and repeatable manner, including product dimensions and tolerances.
- Interprets engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and studies sample parts to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
- Reviews and approves manufacturing process of components and assemblies prior to release for production.
- Develops fixtures and tooling as needed for prototyping and production in the form of material specifications, 2-D engineering drawings, and 3-D models in Solidworks that are manufacturable, creative, cost effective and robust.
- Monitors, trends, analyzes, and reports data from design, production, inspections, servicing and suppliers to aid in continuous improvement of designs, products and processes.
- Designs and executes Design Of Experiments (DOE) techniques.
- Provides accurate and timely technical support to manufacturing employees, including writing qualification protocols, process documents and work instructions.
- Effectively coordinates efforts between manufacturing, quality and product development.
- Applies continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, and/or cost-effectiveness.
- Performs other assignments as necessary.
- Maintains a professional working relationship and effectively communicates with all employees, managers, vendors, customers and regulatory agencies.
- Understands and complies with company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and safety regulations.
- Regular attendance at work is required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or related Bachelor’s Degree; minimum of three years of experience in manufacturing engineering, and/or in the development of medical devices; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient technical skills; knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques to maximize efficiencies including work flow, equipment layout, assembly and production; knowledge of production processes including welding, CNC machining, metal finishing, silicone molding, and/or passivation preferred.
- Experience with 3D Computer Aided Design CAD software; Solidworks experience preferred.
